Daily Focus Goals

Below are our goals that we are currently working on in class.

Melt An Ice Cube Game

Over the past week we have been learning a great deal about water and the different forms it can take (solid, liquid, gas).  We have been doing several science experiments to throughout the unit that has allowed us to explore all these different forms.  Today we did a fun activity to see who could turn their ice cube into a liquid first!     The kiddos loved it!  I have included a picture below on how to play the game at home.  I hope you try it out with your family!

New Tool For Writing

The kiddos are really getting good at developing a complete sentence in their writing.   I introduced a new tool to them during our language time to work on the mechanics of a good sentence.  We are working on checking our sentence for a period, word wall words spelled correctly, capital letter first, and spaces between our words.  Below are a few friends trying out the new tool and double checking their completed sentence.

Poetry with Penguins!

We are starting off our new year learning about PENGUINS!  Above is our penguin poem that we are working on this week!  Today we hunted for word wall words and chunks to help us read!  After our word hunting we put the poem into our poetry journals!  The kiddos love to go back and read all of our old poems!  Ask your child to read the poem above with you!

After our poetry work we learned a little more about penguins with an informational book! Then we went to get eye to eye with penguins!  We went into the hallway and compared our height to an emperor penguin.  We discovered that we are all taller than an emperor penguin!  Ask your child which penguin is the smallest!
